1/3 of people missed work last year due to delays in care

According to new research from polls by Savanta - of 2,235 people - one in three people had missed work in the last year because of delays in accessing care from the NHS.

Overall, 36% of respondents had missed at least some work because of difficulty with care access.

Amongst their findings is that:

  • 19% have not been able to go to work because they were waiting for a GP appointment.

  • 15% had to take a long period off of work whilst waiting for treatment or surgery.

  • 12% were unable to work as they waited for emergency dental treatments.

Of the respondents. young adults were reported to be the most affected as more than half (54%) between the ages of 18-34 had been forced to miss work whilst either pursuing or waiting for care.
