Edward Stanley became Patron of the organisation in 2016. Having worked with the organisation over the previous couple of years he wanted to formalise the relationship. Edward is a university student in his second year at the University of Oxford studying Economics and Management. Before this he attended Eton College, which is when he became aware of the organisation. He visited the charity in 2013 before returning many times over the years.
Edward, who is the eldest son of the current Earl of Derby, Lord Stanley, has previously supported the Big Help Project by volunteering at the charity's offices and warehouse in Kirkby, and also completing a sponsored bike ride from Canterbury to Paris, which raised over £2,000.
He explained: "through my involvement with the Big Help Project, I had the opportunity to work with different elements of the project, from back of house to service delivery. I was able to see first-hand the dedication of the staff and volunteers, and the hugely positive impact that their work has for people who are facing financial and other challenges. I am honoured and proud to be Patron of such a fantastic organisation, and I am looking forward to working closely with them to support the vital work they do helping some of Knowsley's most vulnerable people."
