We are a charity doing serious work eradicating poverty in our local community. Volunteers are at the heart of what we do, enhancing the lives of others in our local community in ways that will make you feel proud of your contribution and YES Volunteering with The Big Help Project is also hugely satisfying and fun!!
Maybe your retired now or work part time and would like to donate some of your time and your skills. Perhaps your a student (must be over 16) and want to add tangible work experience to your CV through volunteering. Employers favour applicants with volunteering experience. You might have a professional background and can help our management team in a number of ways. You may have admin skills that you can share in our main office. You might want to get involved in our supermarket food collections which are one of the activities that sit at the heart of what our charity does so well as we supply 10 Foodbanks and 3 Food Clubs. Working in the foodbanks or food clubs, front of house meeting & greeting, making up food parcels, chatting with clients, making refreshment, having a chat, filling in forms. Working in the main distribution centre, sort food, stacking shelves, making up orders. Fund raising opportunities are endless, we welcome your ideas and any challenges you might like to undertake on our behalf. VOLUNTEERS help make this project happen and we are so very proud of them.
What we need from you
A passion to help your local community and for you to share the most precious thing you have with us your TIME... It can be a couple of hours or a few days, whatever time you can spare will be of great help. A willingness to transfer your skills to meet the needs of our project. Enthusiasm, caring nature and commitment to be part of our fantastic team. If you chose to volunteer in the Foodbanks or Food Clubs these have set days and hours and we are looking for dedicated volunteers for specific days and times.
What you can expect from us
We welcome you to come along to our main office and will give you a tour of our facilities and have a chat about ways in which we can help each other. We will listen and together put a plan of action in place. Matching your skills to the appropriate volunteer role is important to us as we want you to enjoy your experience and time here. We will keep in touch to ensure you have chosen the right volunteer role.
