Abbey Group create lasting memento to mark the Big Help Projects’ tenth anniversary year

Knowsley-based engineers Abbey Group have made a lasting contribution to the Big Help Project’s tenth anniversary year, with the gifting of eleven bespoke commemorative metal artworks featuring The Big Help Projects’ distinctive Oak Tree symbol.

The artworks were commissioned by the Big Help Project as part of a range of events marking ten years since it was founded as Knowsley Foodbank in 2011. Since then, the organisation has branched out into multiple projects, becoming an award-winning organisation that has made a lasting difference to hundreds of lives.

Since choosing the Big Help Project as their charity of the year in 2020, Abbey Group have set up regular giving, donated Christmas toys and gifts for vulnerable families, and organised ongoing Foodbank collections which have been invaluable throughout the pandemic and lockdown. They have this month renewed their Charity of the Year commitment until 2022, to support the Big Help Project in helping the community to come back stronger than ever after Covid-19.

“Here at the Abbey Group, we are honoured to work alongside and support such an amazing charity like the Big Help Project. Ten years of incredible work, helping thousands of people better themselves and improve their quality of living. Whether this be putting food on the table or helping people get back in to work. After a meeting with our managing director Adam Kelly, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to be involved for a further 12 months. The kindness and selflessness of the Big Help Project has improved so many people’s lives. We look forward to the next 12 months, continuing to help any way we possibly can”.

Simon Cowie, COO of the Big Help Project, said “As we recognise ten years of the Big Help Project & Knowsley Foodbank, we decided it would be nice if every location and organisation within the Big Help Group had a statement piece that could be displayed proudly and helped them understand that our National Charity has local roots in Knowsley, Liverpool. So, we turned to our friends and

‘Charity of the Year’ partner, the Abbey Group who we know to produce quality, bespoke laser-cut metalwork. How impressed were we when we went along to collect the eleven powder-coated works of art! With our anniversary logo and symbolic oak tree at the heart of the finished product, we were simply lost for words. This will stand tall and be treasured across the Group for years to come.”

The artworks form part of a series of events and appeals to mark the tenth anniversary of the Big Help Project, including a Cricket Day in August, Golf Day in September and a Patrons Lunch in October. The events calendar for the anniversary year will close with a special Christmas Carol Concert to be held in The Crypt at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.
