Knowsley businesses step up to choose The Big Help Project as their Charity of the Year

Businesses in Knowsley have stepped up to support their communities during Covid-19 and into 2021, with no less than four locally-based companies choosing The Big Help Project as their charity of the year through to 2021.

Avient (formerly PolyOne), Jenkinsons Office Supplies, and Levins Solicitors chose The Big Help Project for the second year running. They are joined for the first time by the Abbey Group, who have become the newest company to adopt The Big Help Project (Knowsley Foodbank) as their Charity of the Year.

Michele Duckworth, Fundraiser at The Big Help Project said “we are delighted that we have three world-class businesses committed to supporting us in our work to alleviate and eventually eradicate poverty in Knowsley and beyond. At this time it is more important than ever for all sectors of the business community, including the Third Sector, come together and support each other, as we are looking forward to the next 12 months of working with these team to increase the reach and impact of the work of The Big Help Project.”

Lesley Martin-Wright, Chief Executive, Knowsley Chamber, said“The Big Help Project has been supporting people across Knowsley for some time but never has its work been more important and more in demand than during this pandemic. We have some fantastic businesses in Knowsley working better, together, and I am delighted that a number of those local businesses are supporting The Big Help Project with a year-long commitment. I believe that supporting a local good cause, is good for the community and good for the business too.”

The announcements come at a time when demand for Knowsley Foodbank has increased 12-fold, as the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown impact communities that were already under pressure from the effects of austerity and a struggling national economy. The partnerships will see teams from the companies get involved with fundraising, events and donation drives to help to feed hungry people in Knowsley and the Liverpool City Region.
